Helsinki – Dress the Christmas Tree Campaign brings joy year after year

Through the Dress the Christmas Tree, you can participate in ensuring that a child in a low-income family receives at least one gift. Diaconal workers deliver the gifts to families and single-person households that need them the most. Years of experience have taught us that donations bring tremendous joy to the recipients – and to those who donate.

Parishes organize the collection in November and December. Donations are welcome in the form of gift cards, which the recipients can use to purchase food or gifts that they need. From the First Advent Sunday on December 1st, many churches have Christmas trees from which you can pick up children's and families’ Christmas wishes. Some parishes also accept gift bags containing coffee, chocolate and woollen socks, for example. See the Lutheran Church in Helsinki website for more information (in Finnish).

You can donate to any parish you choose; donations are not tied to your place of residence.

Thank you for your gift!
